West Moors to the clinic
West Moors is about twenty minutes away: the A348 south through Ferndown to Kinson, Wimborne Road down to Winton, then west into Talbot Woods. Cyclists sometimes use the Castleman Trailway as far as Broadstone and cut across, which turns the appointment into a decent ride.
Patients from West Moors are a mix of families from the roads around Station Road, people who work at the oil depot and the Ferndown estates, and walkers who treat Moors Valley as their back garden. Lifting injuries, long-standing neck problems and knees that have done a lot of miles all come through the door.
The 8am starts suit the depot shifts, and families tend to take Saturday mornings. Parking is free and off the road in the clinic courtyard, so there is nothing to pay once you arrive.
The level crossing at Station Road is the one thing that can hold you up leaving the village; after that the A348 and Wimborne Road are predictable. Several West Moors families book two appointments back to back so one journey covers both.
